Located at 780 Coleman Ave, San Jose, CA 95110, A1 Performance European Auto Repair operates as an auto repair shop serving San Jose in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 8 amβ5 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. San Jose is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Jose follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I had a horrible experience with A1 European. I called ahead and specifically told the owner that I wanted to replace my front tires and also mount my tires onto a new set of used wheels that were in good condition with no curb marks. When I showed up for my appointment, I waited three hours, only to find out that the owner, Cliff, did not even know I needed new front tires. He ended up mounting my old tires onto my new wheels. At that point, I noticed scratches on all four wheels and said to Cliff, βPlease be careful and try not to scratch the wheels.β Because he hadnβt ordered my new tires, he had to leave the shop to pick them up and then install them. After the installation, I realized he had ordered the wrong tires. Cliff offered to replace them with the correct ones, so I dropped the car off again. When I picked it up the second time, I noticed even more damage on the wheels. He then offered to repaint all four wheels, but at that point I had no faith left in this shop. It felt like getting food poisoning at a restaurant and being offered another plate of food from the same kitchen. To make matters worse, the day after I took the car home, I noticed the clutch pedal wouldn

I had an excellent experience at A1 Performance European Auto Repair. I took my BMW X3 in for overheating, thinking I needed to replace the thermostat. Cliff and his team quickly diagnosed the issue and found that it was actually the water pump that needed replacing. Their honesty and expertise saved me both time and money. The service was quick, the prices were very reasonable, and I appreciate their reliable support. I highly recommend them for anyone needing European auto repairs

way over priced Seriously!!! Car diagnostics are just a receipt? they donβt even put the codes in the diagnostics! I had to tell him to put em on and he got mad ? really would not recommend them. I was able to get someone to do the job for $600 less. I felt like I got scammed π they donβt even honor the discount they have at the banner outside the shop

Just as I was at wit's end! I was referred to A1 performance by my AAA driver. Thank goodness I made the call for a tow to A1. Cliff and his team were able to help solve a true BMW mystery conundrum before paying ridiculous $. Coincidentally I found out of A1 is aslo my best friends mechanic. This sealed the deal on my trust with A1 and they pulled through! Thank you Cliff + A1 Performance Team.

I normally do not write reviews but I had to for these guys. We brought our GTI into Cliff and his team for some much needed service at 80k Miles. Cliff acquired all of the best parts, gave us fantastic advice, and his entire team did great work on the car. I am in the car racing world and do know what I am looking at when other folks work on our cars. The quality of work performed was better than most high end european race shops. We had a slight issue with the tires we ordered and Cliff stepped up, ate the cost of the wrong tires, and got the correct ones on order within a day. 10/10 experience working with these guys.
